DESCRIPTION:Goombay Hike & Hang-Summer 2024 \n“Sometimes you just need to hang in the woods and recharge” \n  \nSunday\, September 15th| 3:00pm – 8:00pm \nPatuxent River Park-JUG BAY| 16000 Croom Airport Rd. Upper Marlboro\, MD \n* We will meet in the Patuxent River Park Camp Ground (Site C & D). Make sure you Google Patuxent River Park Campground for directions! \nThis is just not your regular hike… this hike is focused on relaxing in the woods\, in a hammock\, during the twilight hour by a campfire.\nThe Patuxent River Blue Trail is a 4-5 mile trail located in the heart of Patuxent River Park-Jug Bay. This is a Beginner/Intermediate level trail with flat terrain and rolling hills. \n  \n  \nHike with a rented hammock – $40 (while supplies last)\n \nHike with your own hammock – $20\n \n* Hike includes reserved campground\, hike leaders\, campfire with s’mores \n** If you are bringing your own hammock\, please make sure you have the proper tree straps and not rope. You may also bring your hammock stand.\n \nTo sign up for this hike at go to www.Goombay.net \n_____________________________________ \nHAMMOCKS: \nYou may bring your own hammock or rent one from us for only $20 (while supplies last) and we will assist you with setting it up. During the hang\, hikers can relax\, nap\, read\, listen to music or just commune with nature. We ask that if you’re listening to music\, please bring your headphones! This is your time to experience hammock hanging in nature and we would like for everyone to have a positive and relaxing experience. \nIf you’re bringing your own hammock\, please make sure you bring the proper hammock straps and not rope.\n \n  \nHIKE AGENDA: \n3:00pm: Hikers will meet at the Patuxent River Park Campground site C & D \n3:30pm: Hike Begins \n5:00pm: Arrive at hang spot\, set up hammocks and relax (we will hang where we start) \n8:00pm: Break down hammocks \n* If anyone would like to stay later and commune around the fire\, we have the site all night. \n** There is a restroom at the hang area. \nSUGGESTED EQUIPMENT LIST \n\nHammock (if you don’t have a hammock\, we have them for $20 to rent)\n\n\nHeadlamp\n\n\nDay Pack to carry all your supplies\n\n\nTrekking Poles (optional)\n\n\nSturdy hiking boots or trail sneakers\n\n\nSmall First Aid Kit (optional)\n\n\nWeather-appropriate clothing (think moisture-wicking and layers)\n\n\nBlanket and small pillow (optional)\n\n\nHat or scarf\n\n\nTrail snacks & plenty of water\n\n\nWipes\n\n\nCell phone with back up battery\n\nJOIN OUR GOOMBAY HIKE GROUP CHAT \nhttps://groupme.com/join_group/26884774/l0573V \n  \nIf you have any questions please contact Butch at 202.210-1957 \n
